Custom Video Arcade

This arcade was designed and built from scratch, borrowing elements from multiple existing projects on the web. To better visualize the cabinet’s final form, a 3D model of each panel and their placement was created using a CAD program. During construction, a CNC was used to cut several of the more complex panels and holes for the buttons and joysticks.

Visually, the cabinet was designed to invoke the nostalgia of classic console and arcade games. This is evident through the cabinet’s NES controller inspired control panel and the inclusion of the customer’s favorite games in the side panel artwork.

A Raspberry Pi 4 served as the primary computation unit for the arcade, capable of emulating games from multiple arcades and consoles. The button and joystick switches were connected to the raspberry pi using an I-PAC controler interface.

The marquee was made using a shadow box technique with translucent acrylic white LEDs for backlighting. The title Guncade is a result of a playful amalgamation of the customer’s family name with the word arcade.
